Unvanquished

Shouldn't have made this a poll... Looks like I'm helping unvanquished. We'll probably be putting an unvanquished server up shortly--- please take a look at http://unvanquished.net/ and at some of their videos on youtube.

I'm actually going to try to get some of you involved. They need some native speakers and have a neat interface for it. Take a look at:

What is 1.2's player-base like? If it's a strong, healthy, and fun community then I say port it. If not, make it stand-alone.

I'm may also be able to do some basic translation of English -> German, if time permits. I'm currently out of the country (guess where) until Saturday, at which point, I'll be in Michigan for another week. If you still need me, I'll probably be around.

Server is up... I recommend you guys get on, I'll be adding permissions throughout the day... but anyone who gets on for now (except milk) gets level 5 while I sort things out.

either its just me or when i clicked 'refresh' you just recently put up the server like a few seconds ago... :D
edit: I 999'd forever as soon as i joined. Did you do /restart by any chance?
You need to disable the following commands to avoid bugs:
/cp [server crashes, or kicks the client for invalid pk3s... its a bug migrated from gpp]
and maybe restart, but that depends on how you host the server. If i do /devmap striaght from my console and do /restart, i automatically 999.

Either the download has too much trafic, or the mirror is broken, but it ain't downloading for me.

From the lurking I did on their forums, it seems that the TremZ team decided to go ahead and just not release anything more until they get the full version of their game out. Then again, it also appears that they're getting some pretty real, and legitimate help from outside sources. So waiting until April for the final release of TremZ doesn't sound all that bad if you look at it like that.

The biggest thing I'm worried about is weather or not either of these games will get popular or not. They have every reason to, but it's really only up to fate to decide exactly what's gonna happen next.

They are not my textures, it is a combined visual mod of Funko [rotacak's 1.1 past project], Shinytrem [credits in the file], CoRx - (luci sprites only i think) with a fair amount o\f tweaking/adding/deleting/modifying the partial systems.
So i won't put this up for the devs, i'd rather it stay fan-based but i don't mind the devs taking some particle systems from it, it would be cool having blood fx stains...

The forums seem pretty absent to me.

I was going to help tremz but the only active person on the project was thedushon and I didn't quite care for the way they were doing things... UV, on the other hand, has gobs of people and are making some real progress.

What will happen to the rights you said something about using the korx source code for tremz specifically or something... i dont remember...

Oh KoRx is open source, I have no say in who uses its source code or my contributions, as they're all GPL'd. Should Tremz magically resurface I may join them, but I'll feel less inclined to as long as they're this secret entity from their community.

It is very stable by now but there are some remaining problems.

Finally got it to work. I gotta say, it's pretty sexy. The new tyrant animation was pretty great, and the official server has bots.

If i replace the 'join' with 'support', that's my current attitude. I'm not on either side, but i am currently supporting unvanquished more simply because the devs are more motivated.

Tell me the error, i may be able to tell you how to fix it. There's also the unvanquished forum help center, you could look through the past posts.
The most common to stop it working is the new renderer. A lot of computers these days [even new ones, ftw] don't support GL3 so you need to switch to the vanilla renderer, gl.
Use command prompt or create a shortcut with +set cl_renderer "gl" in the target. It should fix it.
If that doesn't work, you probably are using version 5.1. You will need to remove the translations file, i dont know what it looks like so if you can't find it, you're gonna have to look at the unv forums.
